Matt Kemp reminded fans Monday that he is a superstar on the field as well as off too, offering to donate $1,000 to the victims in Oklahoma for every home run hit beginning tonight and going until the All-Star break.
He made the announcement via Twitter:
Kemp homered in the sixth inning of Monday night’s 3-1 Dodgers victory over the Brewers, connecting on a pitch from Yovani Gallardo.
The blast was his second of the season for the All-Star that is just two seasons removed from hitting 39 home runs. He finished with 23 last season.
Dodgers fans have waited patiently for Kemp to arrive, and with the team struggling, this could be the added spark it needs to take off on a lengthy winning streak.
Currently the Dodgers are in the midst of a three-game series in Milwaukee.
The All-Star break will begin July 15, giving Kemp 51 games to rake home runs that will turn in to donations for victims of the deadly tornado.
